About the Event

At the All-Island Forum on Cancer Data meeting, the eHealth-Hub for Cancer proposed establishment of an All-Island OHDSI node. The all-island eHealth-Hub for Cancer, which is led by the University of Limerick and Queen's University Belfast and brings together cancer researchers from 7 universities and 8 academic teaching hospitals. The eHealth-Hub for Cancer consortium are united in a common vision, to build partnerships and harmonize approaches north and south so that health-relevant data can be efficiently utilized to better understand cancer and to use this knowledge to fuel discovery in the diagnosis and treatment of this common disease, delivering research with clinical and societal impact and the potential to drive policy change.

Observational Health Data Sciences and Informatics (OHDSI) is an open-science community that seeks to advance health by leveraging large-scale analytics of health data and real world evidence. OHDSI includes more than 4,200 collaborators across 83 countries. OHDSI’s data network is based on its OMOP common data model and includes health records for more than 810 million unique patients (https://ohdsi.org/who-we-are/).

The new OHDSI Ireland node would be established with the following goals and objectives:

Facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing fostering real world evidence research on the island of Ireland

Align with national health initiatives and stimulate research collaborations and projects on the island of Ireland, with European and global OHDSI partners

Communicate OHDSI activities and facilitate engagement with OHDSI, activities, meetings and events.
