The National Health Service (NHS) in the UK recently adopted the OMOP common data model as the standard for sharing and analysis of NHS data. This is an exciting development as it will, for the first time, connect and enable research on NHS data across all hospital trusts. The OMOP common data model is a global standard for health data research. Members of the eHealth-Hub for Cancer team were delighted to join leaders in this field at the HDR-UK OHDSI meeting in London. It was a fantastic opportunity to engage with experts and researchers on emerging health issues, focusing on the importance of a unified common data model for clinical health data and how this could be utilized across the island of Ireland.
