Akwuru David Chibuike Ikechi
Doctoral Student, University of Limerick
Research interests: Federated Data Sharing, Myeloid Malignancies, Cancer Research, Machine Learning in Healthcare, Biomedical Imaging, Algorithm
David Akwuru is a PhD researcher in Digital Health at the University of Limerick, Ireland. His research focuses on standardising Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML) data on the Island of Ireland to the Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership (OMOP) Common Data Model (CDM), with the aim of improving the structure, quality, and reusability of real-world clinical data for cancer research.
Before embarking on his PhD, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria, where he developed skills in programming and software engineering while gaining early exposure to health-related software development with medical practitioners. He later completed a Master of Science degree in Digital Health at the University of St Andrews, United Kingdom, which further shaped his interest in health informatics and data-driven healthcare research.
David's work sits at the intersection of data standardisation, clinical informatics, and observational health research. His research interests include cancer informatics, clinical data interoperability, real-world evidence, observational health studies, health data science, and common data models for reproducible research.
