Hi, I'm Arya C. Soman, a Doctoral Researcher in Statistics at the University of Limerick. My research focuses on developing statistical frameworks for enabling federated clinical cancer research. My work leverages the OHDSI OMOP Common Data Model to harmonize oncology data across institutions, ensuring seamless collaboration and advancing clinical cancer research.
I hold an M.Phil. in Biostatistics and Population Studies from the International Institute of Population Sciences (IIPS), Mumbai, an M.Sc. in Biostatistics from the ICMR-National Institute of Epidemiology, Chennai, and a B.Sc. in Mathematics from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala. Throughout my academic journey, I have developed expertise in machine learning, statistical forecasting, predictive modeling, and quantitative research analysis.
As part of my research, I am currently exploring methodologies for federated cancer data sharing, ensuring data security, interoperability, and regulatory compliance in collaborative oncology studies. My work involves leveraging big data technologies, AI-driven analytics, and advanced statistical modeling to enhance data-driven decision-making in cancer research.
Prior to my doctoral studies, I worked as a Biostatistician at Parexel International and Cancer Institute (WIA), Chennai, where I gained experience in clinical trial analytics, survival studies, and hospital-based cancer registry management. I have also contributed to various public health projects, including the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases, and Stroke (NPCDCS).
I am passionate about using data science and statistical methodologies to drive innovation in clinical research and epidemiology. As Isaac Newton once said, "If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants." This quote fuels my ambition to push the boundaries of biostatistics and clinical data science, contributing to meaningful advancements in healthcare
